DIY Valentines Day Gift Idea

Valentines day is coming up and for those of you who are in relationships (I'm not included in this) are going to want to do something special for that special someone in your life. You don't need to spend huge amounts of money to do this. I think being creative and making your love something yourself rather than buying it from a shop is incredibly romantic. It shows you've spent time with their gift and tried to make it as special as you can.

I thought it'd be cute to make some heart shape chocolates and decorate them.

All you need to make them is:

       1. 1 bar of dairy milk chocolate
       2. A heart mould
       3. Some foil (I used gold)
       4. A cute box
       5. A saucepan, bowl, knife, spoon

They're really easy to make, but I'll write a little step by step guide for you.

Put some water in to a saucepan and place it on a hob at a low heat. Put some chocolate into a bowl and put the bowl over your saucepan. Make sure the water is just touching the bottom of your bowl.

Keep the bowl on the saucepan until all the chocolate has fully melted. Give it a little stir as well. It'll make it melt faster.

One the chocolate has melted, turn the hob off and take your bowl out of the saucepan. (Be careful, your bowl could be really hot)

Now, start spooning the chocolate into your heart shaped mould.

I found this part really hard to do. I did end up having quite a lot of chocolate at this point. Melted Chocolate is amazing!

Once you've spooned all of your chocolate into the mould, put it in the fridge for an hour or until all the chocolate has hardened up.When your chocolate has hardened up, take them out the fridge and take the chocolates out of your mould. If the chocolate doesn't come out of the mould easily, they will need to go back in the fridge for longer.

Now separate your chocolates. For example, if you've done 20, then 10 chocolates will be wrapped in the foil and 10 chocolates will be left as they are. If I were you, choose the ugliest looking chocolates to be wrapped in the foil. This is the really fun part!

Again, resist temptation to eat your chocolates.

Okay, now you've almost finished. Decorate your box with some pretty paper and put your chocolates inside it. You can now add some finishing touches. I put loads of heart sprinkles all over mine to make them look really cute and romantic.

There, now you have a Valentines day gift that didn't cost much and is super romantic and cute!

Hope you enjoy! :-)
